After deciding which two ideas I wanted to further look into, I then found five pictures of each of them. For the leaves, I decided that fall leaves would be a better option than spring and summer leaves because they had a more variety of colors in them. I also found a different variety of pictures for the limes; I found pictures of the outside, inside, and eaten inside of limes.
I create original art. I gained inspiration for the shapes of leaves by what my picture references had. However, I colored all of them different colors to make them stand out from each other. I believe that by making the leaves autumn leaves, I was able to show more color and value and have a bigger contrast between the different leaves. My source of inspiration for the piece was founded in the colors of the reference pictures I gathered. I take risks. I wasn't too sure on how to show the texture for the grass in the background. I believe that using the crossing lines of brown and green helped a great amount to show the texture of the grass. Also, the different direction of the lines helped to contrast with the leaves. To color this piece, I also used Prisma Colored Pencils instead of just regular colored pencils. These pencils have a softer tips that make it easier to blend colors. I feel like my work would not have looked as neat and nice if I had used regular colored pencils. I developed art making skills. In this project, I practiced showing value by using shades and highlights. I also practiced blending colored pencils, which I believe turned out nicely. Theres a range in value in all of the leaves that makes each one of them stand out. With this project I got to practice more of using a colored pencil medium.
