Emil Nolde painted a lot of flower gardens, but to make my painting original, I chose to paint a landscape picture from Turks and Caicos. I took all these pictures over summer when I went to Turks and Caicos. It was a beautiful, interesting, and unforgettable visit; so I thought it would be a good idea to paint a picture from it.
I chose to sketch these two pictures. On the second picture, instead of drawing an umbrella like in the actual picture, I drew a palm tree. I think it adds more character to the painting. I ended up using the second picture for my final painting. I realized i was able to incorporate more intense colors and a variety of blues.
I create original art. In most cases, Emil Nolde paints a lot of flower gardens. I chose to paint a landscape picture of Turks and Caicos. To incorporate Emil Nolde's style of art, I used the same brush strokes he used. Also, instead of painting an umbrella on the right side of the painting, I added a palm tree for originality. I developed my art making skills. I used to know only how to paint with straight, smooth brush strokes. With Nolde's style, he uses broken, choppy like brush strokes. It was somewhat difficult to understand how to paint this type of brush stroke but once I got the hang of it, it was simple and somewhat easy. I love the way these brush strokes make the painting look and i will definitely use this brush stroke again in future paintings. I have a global awareness of art making. Before even looking for references for this project, we had to research our famous artist. After we researched them, we wrote a research paper about their life, style of paintings, style of brush strokes, and some of their popular paintings. Technology played a major role in this project.
